RiG'd Supply Ramble Swing Pro with VelociRAX 6 Max Bike Rack on 100 Series Land Cruiser.

I have admired the RiG'd Supply Ramble Swing for quite a while, so when they released a Pro version earlier this year, I knew it was time to replace my aging Kuat Pivot v1. My 100 Series Land Cruiser has a unique fit as I have an aftermarket rear bumper with tire carrier. I have looked at many options to replace my aging Kuat over the years, but they would not clear the driver side swingout. The Kuat Pivot v1 served me well, but it was rusting badly and was sagging because it is not load rated to carry a vertical bike rack (not many hitch swings are). This is where the Ramble Swing shines, as it has a 350lb weight rating which is plenty for a vertical rack and 6 normal sized bikes. So I ordered the Pro version shortly after release and it took about 10 weeks to arrive. I was not in a huge hurry and current lead time is only 3-4 weeks.

When the Ramble Swing arrived, it was well packed in a very heavy box. The install was straight forward, just make sure you have an 18" long 1/2" extension and watch the video. The swing arm is super stout, I knew it would be, but was still surprised at how heavy duty it was in person. The swing arm can be mounted in either orientation (passenger or driver side swing). It requires use of a hitch pin (preferably locking), so make sure you have one of those on hand. The install was straight-forward and took 10 minutes max. Once I had the Ramble Swing mounted, I mounted my VelociRAX MAX 6 Bike Rack. The Ramble Swing had no issues with the weight of the heavy vertical rack.

Pros

  • Heavy Duty (350lb weight rating)

  • Works with Vertical Racks

  • Ease of install/removal

  • Compatible as passenger or driver side swing

  • Integrated Step

Cons

  • Not "In Stock"

  • Latch requires a lot of pressure to open/close

  • Doesn't include locking hitch pin

  • Expensive

Would I recommend this product? Yes, especially if you are carrying heavy bikes, lots of bikes, vertical rack, etc. If you are not carrying a lot of bikes/weight, I would look at other options due to lead time and cost, but if you have a vertical rack or carry a lot of weight this is about the only option you have. It is very heavy duty and very well made. I have been very happy with the product over the past 4 months and think it will serve me well for years of use.
